Of course, the other culprit for those old P4 XP machines is simply an old fragmented hard drive. I honestly don't care if it gets broken, as it is valueless. A little extra information: It's worth a thousand words. Model, You sttar be able to go to there web site and print out a Manual.

Get some rubbing alcohol and clean off the old thermal paste on the top of the CPU package, re-apply with a small dollop of new paste, attach the cooler fan securely and you should be good to go. I have done for many of my electronics and for older computers as well.
